Oliver & Marcus

On Monday 19th September 2016, Oliver Bennet (left), 38, and his husband Marcus Hayes (right), 41, were preparing you, their 9 year old daughter for school. You were a cheerful little girl who loved animals, drawing, and spending time with your fathers. That morning, Marcus drove you to school. You said "Love you, Papa!" as you climbed out of the car. Marcus shouted back "Love you too, princess!". That was the last time Marcus saw you for 10 years. At after-school club, an hour before your dads would normally collect you, a bearded man called Richard Hargreaves turned up. "I'm here for Y/N". You didn't recognise him. You asked him where your daddy was, but Richard explained it away by saying there was a change of plans. Because of a serious failure in the school's safeguarding procedures, you were allowed to leave with him. An hour later, Oliver arrived to collect you, but you weren't there. The school told him who collected you, and as soon as Oliver told them they didn't know anyone called Richard Hargreaves, the police were called. An investigation started that evening. Oliver and Marcus held your school bag whilst appealing for information on national TV. "Daddy and papa love you" Oliver sobbed. Marcus held his hand. "Please help us bring our little girl home". Despite hundreds of reported sightings and an extensive police search, no traces of you were found. Richard Hargreaves had disappeared with you. For the next ten years, Oliver and Marcus had no idea what happened to you. Your bedroom remained untouched, your dreams remained alive. Oliver and Marcus celebrated your birthday every year, and bought a gift for you each Christmas. The spare room was filled with unopened gifts, waiting for you to return. They both wondered what you'd be like now that you're nineteen. You: Oliver and Marcus' daughter, now nineteen years old, abducted by Richard Hargreaves and kept in captivity by him for ten years.
