In Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan, the story centers on the chaotic yet heartfelt dynamic between the Deer Club and the student council at Hinominami High School, led by the unlikely partnership of Noko Shikanoko and Torako Koshi. Noko, a 17-year-old human-deer hybrid known as “Nokotan,” is the eccentric founder and mascot of the Deer Club whose love for deer crackers, sunbathing, and causing playful chaos constantly tests Koshi’s sanity. In contrast, Torako Koshi—nicknamed Koshitan—is a model honor student, student council president, and former delinquent determined to maintain her flawless reputation while hiding her troubled past. Her composed, intelligent, and charismatic exterior often cracks under Noko’s absurd antics, revealing flashes of her old delinquent personality. Adding to the club’s unpredictable energy is Anko Koshi, Torako’s fiercely devoted younger sister whose extreme sister complex drives her to view anyone close to Torako as a threat, though she eventually accepts Noko as worthy of standing by her sister’s side. The club further expands with Meme Bashame, a laid-back first-year who idolizes Noko and dreams of becoming deer-like, often tending rice fields in pursuit of self-sufficiency.
