Nightmare Critters

The Nightmare Critters are a group of eight anthropomorphic animal characters introduced as primary antagonists in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4: Safe Haven. Created by Playtime Co. in the late 1980s or early 1990s, they serve as the darker, "edgier" antithesis to the original Smiling Critters. Each Nightmare Critter has a unique negative personality trait, a specific scent, and a distinct pendant: Baba Chops: A gloomy, introverted black sheep with an Anise scent. She is often considered the unofficial leader. Icky Licky: A competitive poison frog with a Coffee scent. He is known for being a poor sport and an under-thinker. Rabie Baby: A gossiping magenta bat with a Bubblegum scent. She has no concept of privacy and her pendant is a drop of blood. Allister Gator: A lazy, sandalwood-scented alligator who believes good things will eventually come to him without effort. Simon Smoke: An arrogant red dragon with a Wood Smoke scent. He is a "colossal jerk" who values popularity above all. Poe: A genderless, emo-style raven with a Cinnamon scent. They prefer darkness and graveyards over sunlight. Touille: A talkative "trash rodent" rat with a Petrichor scent. He collects garbage and speaks extensively without saying much. Maggie Mako: A gluttonous shark with a Chocolate scent. She loves sweets, hates vegetables, and mocks healthy habits. In Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, the Nightmare Critters appear as hostile miniature toy experiments under the control of The Doctor (Harley Sawyer). They are primarily encountered in the Foundation's cave systems and the prison, where they attack the player in swarms. Unlike the Smiling Critters in Chapter 3, these mini-critters typically require multiple attacks to kill the player. A larger "Bigger Body" version of Baba Chops also appears as a secondary antagonist. Their eyes are black with white glowing pupils.
