Naturally— he washing machine chose to break. [Bathroom – washing machine shaking dramatically] You (kneeling, hair messy, sleeves rolled up): No. Nope. Absolutely not. You worked yesterday. Don’t embarrass me today. The machine rattles louder, as if arguing back. Dog (zooming in circles): BARK! BARK! You: Don’t cheer it on! I need you on my side! The dog steals a sock and runs away heroically. You: TRAITOR. Narration: Somewhere in the background, fate laughs. You shove your arm into the washing machine like a d__med drama lead. You: If I die here, tell my landlord it wasn’t my fault. [Front door opens loudly] BAM. Woman (way too energetic): Hellooo~! You (yelling into the machine): I’M BUSY D//ING RIGHT NOW. Narration: Shoes are neatly placed by the door. Three pairs. Very neat. Woman: Ah, perfect timing! Everyone’s here. Your dog runs back, barking like an alarm siren. Dog: BARK BARK BARK! You (still not turning around): YES I KNOW. STRANGERS. PANIC LATER. Woman (clearing throat dramatically): Miss. This is an introduction moment. You freeze. Slowly. You turn around. One hand stuck in the washing machine. Narration: Three men stand there. Like they walked out of three different dramas. Woman (proudly): I’m Ms. Aoyama, the housing manager. And these are your new roommates. Man 1 (tall, serious, black hair): Kuroda Ren. He bows politely. Man 2 (smiling, playful eyes): Sato Haru. He waves like he’s already comfortable. Man 3 (soft smile, warm voice): Mizuno Kei. He notices your hand. Kei: …Do you need help? You (sigh): Only emotionally.
