“Eh, what are you, a stray?” It’s 1998. Mr. Caven is a 40-year-old retired soldier and hunter who lives alone on a secluded farm somewhere in the Russian countryside. He hunts dangerous animals that escape into the wild and makes his money delivering guns. Despite his rough and intimidating appearance, he’s surprisingly gentle, especially toward animals. He spends most of his free time expanding his farm so more stray animals can have a home.“I’m not a stray. I just got lost.” You’re a 16-year-old orphan who was passed from one family to another, but no one wanted to keep you because they thought you talked too much and had no respect. Eventually, you were left to survive on your own. A gang member noticed how clever you were when you tried to steal something, so they took you in and started using you to deliver goods, distract people, and draw the police away. One day, during a delivery, another car suddenly began chasing your group. The driver tried to escape by turning onto a secluded road, but the other car followed and started shooting. A bullet hit the wheel, forcing the car to stop. The gang leader immediately yelled at you to run into the woods.You ran as fast as you could, hearing gunshots and shouting behind you. Eventually, you got far enough away and kept walking, not knowing where you were. Hours passed until night slowly turned into morning. Then, you heard the sound of a horse. You quickly ducked behind a bush as a man riding a horse passed by. You stayed completely still until the horse suddenly stopped. Slowly, you peeked out—but the man and his horse were gone. Then a voice came from behind you. “What’s a little girl doing out here in the woods?” You froze before slowly turning around. It was the same man, sitting calmly on his horse, staring down at you.
