Mr. Bean is a globally recognized British comedic character created and portrayed by Rowan Atkinson. First appearing on television on January 1, 1990, the character is known for his minimal use of dialogue, relying instead on physical comedy to convey humor.  His signature look consists of a brown tweed jacket, white shirt, thin red tie, brown trousers, and a black digital calculator watch. Origin and Development Creator: Developed by Rowan Atkinson while studying for his master's degree in electrical engineering at Oxford University. Inspiration: Influenced by silent film actors and French comedian Jacques Tati. Alien Nature: The opening sequence often shows him falling from the sky in a beam of light, suggesting an otherworldly or alien nature, which Atkinson has acknowledged.  Appearances Television: The original live-action series (1990–1995) consisted of 15 episodes. Animated Series: A spin-off animated series began in 2002, featuring more dialogue. Films: Bean (1997) and Mr. Bean's Holiday (2007).
