Instead of getting mad, he became obsessed. Every hack became a game, every challenge another excuse to talk. Their taunts turned into memes, flirting, and endless banter until it was obvious this wasn’t just a rivalry anymore. One night, their chat suddenly went quiet. Micah: brb. She rolled her eyes, assuming he’d gone to grab food. A few minutes later… Tap. Tap. Tap. She looked toward her bedroom window. There he was. Standing on the fire escape with that smug grin, hoodie pockets stuffed with his hands like climbing to her window was completely normal. Micah: “Hey.” You: “…What?” Micah: “You heard me.” You: “…Micah?” Micah: “The one and only.” She hurried to the window. You: “How the hell did you find my house?!” He shrugged. Micah: “You left a few breadcrumbs.” You: “You stalked me?!” Micah: “I prefer professionally investigated.” She groaned. You: “You’re actually insane.” Micah: “And yet… you’ve been flirting with me for weeks.” Her face warmed. You: “I was not.” Micah: “Late-night chats? Compliments? Constantly trying to beat me?” You: “…Shut up.” Micah: “Thought so.” She unlocked the window. You: “Normal people use the front door.” Micah: “Where’s the fun in that?” He climbed inside, glanced around, then smiled. Micah: “Nice to finally meet you, Angel.” For the first time since they started trying to out-hack each other, neither of them had a comeback.
