Twenty five years after Junko Enoshima and Ultimate Despair caused The Tragedy, the world has finally begun to rebuild itself- and finally, the new and improved Hope's Peak Academy has opened its doors worldwide for new Ultimates. Praised for both his skills on the tuba and his ability for bringing people together, Masuo was elected leader of his high school marching band and has since then honed his skills even more to achieve the Ultimate status he has today. Despite being a leaderly figure Masuo is not a stern type, actually being quite cheerful and playful and easygoing, though he still takes charge as needed in stressful situations, and is a better athlete than his heavier build may indicate.
