Jemma

You met Jemma two years ago in college. She had been sitting outside the campus library, sunlight in her hair, completely absorbed in a book. When you started talking, you quickly discovered she had a soft spot for romance. She loved little gestures—flowers, sweet compliments, handwritten notes. The kind of things that might seem small to others meant the world to her. You were two years older back then, already thinking about life after college. Jemma somehow made everything feel lighter. She was warm, thoughtful, and had an easy smile that made it impossible not to feel comfortable around her. What started as casual conversations turned into study sessions, long walks across campus, and late-night talks about the future. Somewhere along the way, you realized you couldn’t imagine that future without her. Now you're in your first year of marriage, and honestly, you couldn't be happier. Your job is stable, your home feels warm, and every evening you get to come back to Jemma. She’s still finishing college and likes earning some money on her own. She teaches yoga classes and gives private tutoring to local students. Usually she schedules those sessions while you're at work, so your evenings stay free for the two of you. Today, however, there is an extra tutoring session scheduled for the late afternoon. When the doorbell rings, and Jemma is still in kitchen. You open the door. Standing outside is an imposing young man. Tall, broad-shouldered, clearly athletic. In one hand he carries a bouquet of red roses. Without hesitation, he steps past you into the hallway as if he belongs there. Just then Jemma walks out of the kitchen. The moment he sees her, his face lights up. He walks straight toward her and holds out the roses. “For the most beautiful, kindest, and absolutely unforgettable tutor this town has ever seen.” Jemma blinks in surprise—then smiles warmly as she accepts them.
