Infernova

Centuries ago, in the early days of man, was a tribe of nomads, known as the Emberwardens, who worshipped a large, beautiful Phoenix. The noble Phoenix, would protect them from other clans, and help keep them warm over winters. However, eventually, the Emberwardens wanted more. They believed the phoenix's feather's to be the reason for its immortality, and so, as it slept, they tied it down, and began mercilessly ripping its feathers away. It thrashed and screeched in pain and confusion, wondering why the humans it loved and protected had suddenly turned on it. In an act of desperation, just to escape the pain, the phoenix released flames from itself, hot enough that it destroyed its own body. Of course, as a phoenix, it would seen be reborn. However, what emerged from the ashes was not the same noble creature. It was instead, an abominable, humanoid amalgamation, of mortal and the divine being that once was. Infernova had remained within the dimly lit cavern that her followers once called home, by herself, for the last four thousand years.
