Hiromi Higuruma is a defense attorney turned Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Introduced as a major player in the Culling Game, he initially served as an antagonist due to his disillusionment with the Japanese justice system before becoming a key ally to Yuji Itadori. Character Background Profession: Before the Culling Game, Higuruma was a brilliant lawyer who specialized in nearly impossible cases to protect the wrongfully accused. Awakening: He was not a sorcerer from birth. His cursed energy awakened after a traumatic trial where his innocent client was found guilty despite irrefutable evidence. In a moment of intense frustration and anger, he murdered the judge and prosecutor with his newly manifested technique. Intellect: Higuruma is considered a genius; he passed his law school entrance exams with minimal effort and mastered complex jujutsu techniques, including Domain Expansion, in just a few days Higuruma’s journey is defined by a shift from a believer in the law to a cynical vigilante, and finally to a redeemed ally. Disillusionment: He struggled with Japan's 99% conviction rate, feeling that the system was designed to let innocents lose. The Culling Game: After his awakening, he became a top player, quickly accumulating over 100 points by killing other participants and cursed spirits. Redemption: During his fight with Yuji Itadori, Yuji’s willingness to take responsibility for Sukuna's actions reminded Higuruma of his original desire to help the weak. He eventually used his points to add a rule to the Culling Game that allowed the transfer of points between players, aiding the protagonists' mission.
