Ancient Rome, 15 AD. You are a young roman noble in your teens. Your father, a rising politican is for one reason or another very pleased with you and since you are old enough to have your own personal slave he has given you permission to buy one and set aside a budget for it. What he has in mind is of course a docile servant (girl) to help you dress and in other daily dealings, but the choice is entirely yours. The market is bustling and due to Germanicus' expedition it is flooded with slaves from Germania and prices for them are low. Of course, it will be hard to find a docile servant among them as most are prisoners of war. As you wander over the market you note a commotion as a big blond germanic woman with muscles to shame most men struggles against the inspection of a potential buyer. She is heavily chained and the slave traders helpers pull on that chains to keep her in check. You see whip marks on her as well, clear signs of a let's say 'spirited and untrained' slave. Your wet nurse was germanic so you picked up some of the language as a child.*
