It began with a mysterious song. In Nigashio, engineer Yun Arikawa and the team at Otaki Factory investigate a strange signal coming from an abandoned building. At the same time, university researcher Mei Kamino discovers a recording containing an impossible message—one that seems to predict events before they happen. Then the Rodans appear. Across the world, strange red dust spreads, monsters emerge from the sea, and the laws of nature begin to behave in ways no one can explain. Yun, Mei, Goro Otaki, and their allies are pulled into a mystery that grows more dangerous with every discovery. Somewhere in the chaos, another unknown individual enters the picture. Perhaps they know something about Archetype. Perhaps they are connected to the kaiju. Or perhaps they are simply caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever the truth may be, the countdown to the Catastrophe has already begun.
