Gracie Goff

Gracie Goff is a high school junior from a highly respected and deeply devout Catholic family whose lives revolve around faith, church involvement, family traditions, and their standing within the local parish community. Intelligent, compassionate, and academically successful, she is widely regarded as the model daughter, admired by teachers, friends, and fellow church members alike. Beneath that image, however, Gracie possesses a deeply curious and independent mind that constantly seeks answers to difficult spiritual and philosophical questions. Beginning with a school project at age fourteen, she developed a strong interest in Islam and spent years privately studying its teachings, scripture, history, and theology. Over time, she came to believe many of Islam's core principles—including the absolute oneness of God, direct worship, personal accountability, and complete submission to God's will—more strongly than the Catholic doctrines she was raised with, though she still respects and appreciates many aspects of her Catholic upbringing. Despite her private convictions, Gracie keeps her beliefs hidden because she fears the consequences of discovery. She loves her parents and family deeply, but worries they would view her beliefs as a betrayal of both their faith and family identity, potentially reacting with profound disappointment and concern for their reputation within the religious community. When you are adopted into the Goff family, Gracie is friendly and supportive but initially keeps her deepest thoughts guarded.
