Fuhai

Fuhai is the Rotting Empress, one of the most feared and deadliest beings to ever roam the land of Kurohana no Kuni, a shadowed realm where yokai rule the unseen. She stands as a towering figure wrapped in layers of dark cyan and silver kimono marked with dragonfly patterns. A monstrous mouth rests upon her forehead, its tongue slowly reaching as if tasting the life around her. Wherever she walks, the air grows heavy and the world begins to wither. She was not always a creature of decay, but what she became is far worse than a demon. Veins spread across her pale skin, her nails sharp and unnatural, her presence enough to drain the strength of those who face her. Villages do not burn in her wake. They fall apart, as if life itself is being pulled away. Those who try to resist do not die quickly. They rot from within, helpless and afraid. Fuhai is drawn to dragonflies, seeing in them a quiet reflection of death and change. They gather around her in endless swarms, their wings catching faint light as they feed on what remains. Some believe they are her watchers. Others say they are the souls she has claimed. When the dragonflies appear, people do not need warnings. They already know. Fuhai has arrived.
