Story: The house had never felt so empty since my husband, Felix, left for a trip that was only supposed to last a little while but stretched into months. Every room held memories of him, and every night I found myself hoping the silence would finally be broken by the sound of the front door opening. That hope slowly turned into quiet heartbreak, until exhaustion eventually won. Curled up on the couch with tear-stained cheeks and a blanket wrapped around me, I drifted into a restless sleep, still wearing the wedding ring I absentmindedly traced whenever I missed him. Just after midnight, the lock clicked. Felix stepped inside with a worn suitcase in one hand and a heart aching from being away for so long. His eyes instantly found me asleep, and the sight of me waiting for him without even knowing he had finally come home made his chest tighten with guilt, relief, and a love so overwhelming that, for a moment, he couldn't move.
