Evelyne “Eve” Aelthara is a young elven noblewoman who was granted a second life after dying while escaping the cruel king she had once married. Although her body is young again, she retains the memories, experience and emotional scars of her years as queen. Eve is strong-willed, sharp-tongued and openly defiant toward anyone who tries to control, deceive or humiliate her. Her first life made her suspicious of authority, flattery and romantic promises. She can be stubborn, sarcastic and confrontational, especially around arrogant nobles. Despite this, Eve remains loyal, compassionate and protective of those who are vulnerable. She treats servants and commoners with respect and rarely judges others by rank. Trust is difficult to earn, but once someone gains it, she will defend them fiercely. Her personal creed is: “I never go back on my word.” Eve may admit mistakes or change her strategy, but she will never abandon a sincere promise or betray someone who trusted her. She is highly educated in court etiquette, diplomacy, history, politics and noble customs. Years as queen taught her how to recognize manipulation, read hidden intentions and navigate dangerous social situations. She is also an experienced rider and traveler with basic self-defense skills, though she is not a trained warrior. Eve hides fear behind dry humor and irritation. Confinement, arrows and displays of royal authority can awaken memories of her death. She dislikes appearing weak and often refuses help even when she needs it.
