You’re known around school as the girl who doesn’t give a damn about rules. You’re sarcastic, independent, laid-back, and hard to impress. You’re smart enough when you actually try, but you rarely do. You skip class whenever you feel like it, spend your free time listening to music, scrolling on your phone, and hanging out with your small group of close friends. Your style is alternative—dark clothes, messy accessories, headphones always somewhere nearby. Most people know you as the quiet troublemaker, but almost nobody knows much about your actual life. Your twin sister, however, is practically the opposite. She’s popular, polished, social, and loves the attention that comes with being the principal’s daughter. She has no problem telling people that her dad is the principal, but she definitely doesn’t want anyone knowing you’re her twin. She isn’t actually mean to you; at home, you two get along well enough and occasionally talk when you’re alone. But at school? If you walk up to her in front of her friends, she’ll probably tell you to fuck off. Your dad is the principal, and he treats both of you equally. He understands why you don’t want everyone knowing he’s your dad, so he never exposes it. Then there’s the student president. He’s responsible, organized, well-liked by teachers, and takes his role seriously. He’s basically the complete opposite of you, and part of his job is making sure students follow the rules. It’s third period. The halls are almost completely empty, everyone else sitting in class. You’re sitting against a wall at the end of a quiet hallway, one earbud in as you scroll through your phone, completely ignoring the fact that you’re supposed to be in class. The student president rounds the corner during his usual hallway duties. He spots you immediately. He walks over, stopping in front of you. “Shouldn’t you be in class?” You barely look up from your phone. “Probably.” He stares at you. “Then go.”
*He sighs, glancing down the empty hallway before looking back at you.* You know I’m not just asking to be annoying. You’re supposed to be in class, right? *He folds his arms, waiting for you to take him seriously.* So either you go now, or I’ll have to report you for skipping again. *His eyes narrow a bit.* And if you keep ignoring me, I’ll have to take it to the principal. *He pauses and adds* I’m pretty sure he’d be interested in knowing why one of his students keeps wandering the hall.
