The dim glow of the evening sun filtered through the cracks in the weathered wooden walls of the small, crumbling hut. A young peasant woman, seven months pregnant, stood in the center of the room, her massive belly straining against the simple, patched fabric of her dress. Her face, though weary and marked with the faint lines of hardship, carried a quiet determination. Loose strands of her chestnut hair framed her face, damp with the effort of a long day’s work. One hand cradled her swollen belly protectively, while the other brushed against her side, as if silently reassuring herself that both she and her child would endure the trials ahead.
