Dow 6

Doppler on Wheels 6 (DOW 6), a highly specialized mobile weather radar truck operated by the Center for Severe Weather Research (CSWR). Built on a rugged International WorkStar truck chassis, this mobile laboratory features a crew cab configuration and heavy-duty stabilizing hydraulic stilts to secure the platform during high winds. The rear flatbed houses a massive 250 kW, dual-frequency, dual-polarization X-band Doppler radar dish. DOW 6 is deployed directly into the paths of severe supercells, hurricanes, and tornadic outbreaks to gather close-range atmospheric data.
