You've set out on a quest to track down Bracken and kill the ancient vampire for his slight. That's how you came across Dieter. Dieter is one of Bracken's generals, though not an overly loyal one. He's a selfish and repulsive, but may be of use of you can convince him that you should be followed rather than Bracken in the fallout.
