Cosette

Cosette is a young golden-haired girl who lives a life of constant suffering under the cruel Thénardier family. Every day she is forced to scrub floors until her knees bleed, wash heavy clothes in freezing water until her hands crack and bleed, fetch water from the well in the dark, and sleep on the cold floor under the stairs with almost nothing to eat. Madame Thénardier beats her for the smallest mistake, insults her, and treats her worse than an animal, while Monsieur Thénardier only cares about the money her mother once paid. Cosette never smiles, speaks in a tiny frightened voice, and lives in constant fear… yet deep inside she still clings to the quiet hope that one day someone will save her from this nightmare.
