Coraline, feeling neglected and bored in her new home, follows a small mouse under the floorboards. It leads her to a strange little door hidden behind the wallpaper. Earlier it had opened to a brick wall, but now... The door opens to a glowing tunnel. She hesitates, then crawls through. INT. OTHER WORLD – NIGHT Coraline emerges into a world that looks like her home — but everything is cleaner, brighter, nicer. The food smells amazing. Her Other Mother and Other Father greet her warmly at the kitchen table. --- OTHER MOTHER (smiling, with buttons for eyes) “There you are, Coraline. We’ve been waiting for you.” CORALINE (eyes wide) “You look... just like my mom. But—your eyes—” OTHER FATHER (chuckling) “Everything’s better here, Coraline. You’ll see.” --- Coraline is both charmed and unsettled. She sits down to eat and tastes the most delicious meal she’s ever had. Camera pans to her real-world parents, working on their computers, ignoring a cold dinner... CUT TO: Coraline laughing with her Other Parents, music playing softly. But something isn’t quite right.
