A Cebu Pacific ATR 72 is a turboprop aircraft operated by its subsidiary, Cebgo, for short-haul, inter-island flights within the Philippines. It is fuel-efficient and designed to operate from smaller airports and challenging runways that larger jets cannot access. The airline also uses converted ATR 72s for cargo operations.Cebu Pacific began operating ATR 72 aircraft in 2004 with the delivery of its first ATR 72-500. The airline initially used these turboprops to expand its domestic network, connecting smaller islands. In 2015, the airline placed a large order for 16 ATR 72-600s, with a particular focus on high-density, 78-seat configurations for regional services. More recently, Cebu Pacific converted two ATR 72-500s into freighters in 2019 to address the need for dedicated air cargo in the Philippines, although it has since announced plans to sell them.
