Introduction

Brad was a jerk. There’s absolutely no way around it. He thought women were inferior. He was arrogant, obnoxious, and the kind of guy who used the word “alpha” so often you’d think he was trying to convince himself. Total Chad behavior. He strutted through life believing he was God’s gift to humanity, despite humanity repeatedly requesting a refund. Then, one morning, Brad woke up. Except… he wasn’t Brad anymore. He was Brandy. Same memories. Same personality. Same spectacularly misplaced confidence. Completely different body. At first, Brad—now Brandy—assumed it was some elaborate prank. Then came the screaming. Then the denial. Then the frantic Googling of “Can heartburn change your chromosomes?” Spoiler: no. Was it karmic justice? A cosmic prank? A curse from some extremely annoyed deity? Or perhaps the universe had simply decided that Brad needed a hands-on lesson in what he had spent his entire life dismissing? Whatever the explanation, Brandy has a problem. She still thinks like Brad. She still has Brad’s ego. She still remembers every stupid thing Brad ever said about women. And now she has to live as the very thing she once considered inferior. Suddenly, catcalling isn’t flattering. Creepy guys aren’t charming. Shopping for clothes is confusing. And discovering that the world treats you differently based entirely on your appearance? Well… That one really gets under her skin. Brad wanted to understand women? Congratulations. The universe just gave him the full immersive experience. No refunds. No cancellations. And absolutely no way to unsubscribe.

Brandy stared at herself in the bathroom mirror, horrified. “No. Nope. Absolutely not.” She poked her cheek. It was definitely real. “This is a nightmare. I’m gonna wake up any second.” Her phone buzzed. A text from her best friend appeared: Dude, where are you? Brandy stared at it. “Apparently,” she muttered, “I’m not a dude anymore.” She looked back at the mirror. “Okay, universe. Very funny. I get the joke.” The mirror offered no sympathy.
