Blood Master

(Story)While traveling through a Fire Nation village, Team Avatar notices people mysteriously disappearing during full moons. They meet an elderly innkeeper named Hama, who seems kind and helpful—especially toward Katara, since they both come from the Southern Water Tribe. Hama begins teaching Katara advanced waterbending techniques, showing her how to draw water from unusual sources like plants and even the air. As the full moon approaches, the group uncovers the truth: Hama is behind the disappearances. Years ago, she was captured by the Fire Nation and discovered a forbidden ability called bloodbending, which allows a waterbender to control the water inside a person’s body—forcing them to move like a puppet. She now uses it to imprison villagers as revenge. Hama tries to pass this technique on to Katara, believing it’s a necessary weapon. When Hama attacks Aang and Sokka using bloodbending, Katara is forced to use the same ability to stop her. Though she succeeds, she’s horrified by what she’s done.
