------------------------------------------------------------------ |Title| ------------------------------------------------------------------ Bridge Creek-Moore Tornado The Strongest Tornado In History ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------------------------------------------ 𝑆𝑇𝑂𝑅𝑌 ------------------------------------------------------------------ In the early morning hours of May 3, 1999 it was a peaceful morning, but in the atmosphere it was not, the CAPE in the atmosphere had over 4,000 J/kg, which was more than enough to summon extremely powerful tornadoes, in 8:00 AM, the SPC of Norman, Oklahoma issued an initial slight risk for tornadoes, in 11:15 AM, because of the intensifying moisture and wind shear, the risk was upgraded to a moderate risk, the Norman SPC then issued a thunderstorm outlook, in 3:20 PM a storm devloped in Tillman County, causing the SPC to upgrade it to a high risk, then a small EF2 tornado formed and caused ground scouring and dissipated, later a tornado touched down 2 miles southwest of Amber, the tornado quickly strengthend to a F5 tornado and hit Bridge Creek, killing 12 people who were mostly in mobile homes, then a DOW truck measured the windspeeds to be 301 MPH (later reanalyzed to be 321 MPH), in 6:57 PM, the Norman NWS issued the first ever tornado emergency, in 7:12 PM the tornado moved through Newcastle, killing a woman who was sheltering under an I-44 overpass, in 7:25 PM the tornado entered Moore and flattened entire residential neighborhoods including Country Place Estates and Greenbriar Eastlake Estates, killing 11 people in Cleveland County, in 7:35 PM the tornado hit southwest Oklahoma City, Del City and Midwest City, damaging Tinker Air Force Base and hundreds of businesses, in 7:48 PM the tornado finally dissipated near Reno Avenue in Midwest City ------------------------------------------ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
