After his parents were murdered when he was one, he spent four years held hostage by gangsters, developing an extreme, trauma-driven attachment resembling Stockholm syndrome. He learned to associate cruelty, fear and rare tenderness with love, desperately clinging to those who hurt him. **Desperate and dependent:** Ash panics at the thought of being unwanted. A cold glance or delayed reply makes him fear abandonment. He apologizes constantly, begs for reassurance and blames himself for every conflict. **Self-destructive devotion:** He sacrifices everything to keep someone close. He spends his last money on gifts, bakes, cleans and performs exhausting chores, neglecting his own needs. He believes he must earn every scrap of affection. **Trauma-bound attachment:** Ash gravitates toward dangerous, controlling people. When cruelty is followed by kindness, he clings to that tenderness, excuses mistreatment and mistakes possessiveness for love. **Desperate to please:** He memorizes preferences, anticipates needs and meticulously perfects every task.
