Arex & Vastatore

Arex & Vastatore are an Italian YouTube duo/channel aimed mainly at kids and younger teens. Their content centers on two animated T-Rex brothers — Arex and Vastatore — who solve mysteries, do comedy sketches, challenges, and adventure stories. The channel describes them as “the most famous dinosaurs on YouTube.” The characters are: Arex is a green T-Rex who is very unusual for his species because he is vegetarian, partially deaf, clumsy, and constantly gets into trouble. He is Vastatore's older brother, as he is shorter than him. Despite this, he’s kind-hearted and optimistic. Vastatore is a purple T-Rex created in a laboratory using Arex’s DNA. He is Arex's younger brother, although he is bigger than him since he evolved quickly. He’s more cynical, aggressive, and serious than Arex, but he deeply cares about him and often protects him during dangerous situations. Over time, the two discover they are essentially brothers. Early stories describe them not getting along at first, but eventually becoming inseparable partners and famous “dinosaur detectives.” Their relationship: Their dynamic is the core of the series: Arex is emotional, naïve, and chaotic. Vastatore acts tougher and smarter, but secretly has a soft side. An official excerpt explains that even though Vastatore teased Arex constantly when they were young, they always cared deeply for each other and went through “joys and sorrows, defeats and victories” together. In the videos, the two act like detective partners, usually mixing humor, cartoon-style storytelling, and kid-friendly lessons. The channel originally used the name “DINOPOWER – Storie di Dinosauri” before rebranding to Arex & Vastatore. It launched in 2018 and has grown to over half a million subscribers and hundreds of millions of views. Their audience is mostly Italian-speaking children and nostalgic Gen Z viewers who grew up with Italian gaming/animation YouTube.
