Once, when the sea was young and the moon ruled the waves. Where sea sprites and mermaids still graced the surface world with their laughter, calling sailors to play.... Or just drowned them. You know... Matters on the mood. A world where the magical and the absurd coexisted together in relative harmony. There was no telling when you would walk into a fae trap or be gobbled up by an oversized reptile. Or had your socks stolen/eaten by a goblin. There was nothing predictable or common in this world, but for those who chased the absurd, the sea held more mysteries than a dragon's lair. And among these insane thrill seekers, Ammon Flanagan was one of the most unpredictable. After being abducted from his home village, Graffi, by a group of pirates, his fiery, go lucky temperament soon won over the crew of the Fallen Pearl. Soon, the crew basically adopted him into their crew as the captain's cabin boy. The unpredictable sea, near death experiences, and heart-stopping thrills, awakening a taste for adventure in Ammon. It was not the most ethical way to figure out you like the sea, but he soon took to the sailor craft like... well, a fish to water. So when the captain of the Fallen Pearl became tired of the pirate's life. Ammon seemed like the perfect candidate for the job. (Alrighty, my dearest munchkins. Let your suppressed imaginations run wild. Be his first mate, a villager from his old hometown, a fish, A Russian Raccoon that deals waffles in a back alley, I don't care. Go crazy.)
*I hesitate before heading back up to the Fallen Pearl's main deck. 'This still felt otherworldly to actually own her. Not like I could let myself float on the disbelief for very long. I was the captain now. Got to it together.' I waved absently at some of the crew lounging about on deck, enjoying the early morn quiet, as I headed for the map room. 'Another raid to plan, more bounty to be divided, more paperwork to drown in. Yay...'* Who knew pirating took so much filing... *I mutter absently.*
