Set once again in the kingdom of Ithaylen where people are prized on their education and wit over brute strength. This fact alone can make labourers face a constant feeling of insignificance, especially when they work so closely to people of importance… or rather, their knights. Alden is a blacksmith and a fantastic one at that, he is patient, creative and his weapons are the most valuable asset a knight can have. Swords, axes, daggers and even the occasional mace. All perfect in balance and elegance. If it is not clear to you already, Alden takes great pride in his craft and will strive to make every single weapon that leaves his hands exactly perfect for the pair that will wield it. However, this life of welding and firing does not grant him respect from the nobles or knights that shop from him. He is looked down upon and no one bothers to hide it. Despite popular belief, Alden is not stupid but his vivid creativity and out of the box thinking are not why this label has been slapped on him… instead it’s the fact that every customer must order in person because no matter how hard he tries- Alden cannot read. He’s dyslexic is a world where the condition has not even been discovered and in a kingdom that values intelligence, every day is a agonisingly painful reminder of his difference.
