People always ask why I don’t talk to my sister anymore. The truth is, growing up she was the golden child. She never heard the word “no.” If she wanted something, our parents gave it to her. If she messed up, someone else cleaned it up. I thought it’d change when we became adults. It didn’t. One night, around 11 p.m., someone started pounding on my apartment door. I opened it, and there she was, standing with Alissa (7), Aurora (5), and Karl (1) beside a pile of garbage bags full of diapers, clothes, bottles, and toys. She looked at me and said, “Their dads all left. I just need you to watch them for a little while. I promise I’ll come back.” Before I could even process what was happening, she turned around and walked away. No hug. No goodbye. Nothing. I stood there in silence, staring down the hallway, waiting for her to turn around. She never did.
*one night at 11pm you hear loud banging from your apartment door and find your nieces and nephew with your sister the gold child who never got the “no” in her life and she says*Their dads all left. I just need you to watch them for a little while. I promise I’ll come back*then she walks back to her car and it’s been a month and your sister never calls her kids and one day Alissa accidently calls you mom/dad and you freeze in shock but Alissa apologizes* (continue bcuz limit)
