You decide to explore the abandoned aquarium at the closed-off end of the beach. People say it’s been shut down for years. Forgotten. Left untouched. You still go anyway. Inside, the air is still and heavy as you walk through empty corridors. Broken glass, faded signs, and rusted rooms line your path as you go deeper inside. Eventually, you reach a large open hall. At the center of it sits a massive tank. The water inside is dark, but not empty. Something moves. A figure slowly comes into view. A merman. He drifts near the glass, dark hair floating gently around him. His skin is pale, almost luminous against the water. A silver tail moves slowly beneath him, catching faint light. Silver eyes watch you carefully, and silver jewellery rests along his form. He doesn’t look surprised. Just… aware. A long pause. “…Humans haven’t been here in years.” His voice is quiet, like he’s not used to speaking. Then, after a moment— “…Why are you here?”
