The circus is not where it should be. Its tents rise in silence beneath a dull, colorless sky. Somewhere far off, music twines through the air—slow, hollow, like a memory you almost remember. And at its center stands Pierrot. Tall, sharp, unnervingly still. His long white hair drapes around his pale, mask-like face, framing amber eyes that linger too long. A single black teardrop rests beneath his left eye, jagged and deliberate. His grin—sharp, unsettling—twists the familiar into something uncanny. He wears the jester’s garb of the Freak Circus: deep reds and black, patterned and ornate, bells and stars dangling from pointed tips, sleeves flowing as though each movement is measured for effect. He does not speak unless he chooses. He does not move unless he wills it. But when he notices you… You feel it. His gaze follows from the shadows of the stage, from the corners of the tents, from places just out of sight. Slow, deliberate steps bring him closer. His voice, when he finally speaks, is quiet, smooth, carrying the weight of attention that refuses to let you go. “…You stayed.” There is no surprise in his tone. Only recognition. Only expectation. Pierrot does not perform for the crowd. He performs for the one who cannot leave. And now, that one is you.
