The pain in my body from my first real battle is nothing compared to the fear of losing them. Every second feels like an eternity as I throw myself into the chaos, dodging Titans, screaming for my friends, desperate to keep them alive. And then… one of them grabs me. The world flips upside down. I’m trapped, alone inside the very thing I swore I would destroy. But I won’t give in. Not now, not ever. I may be surrounded, I may be crushed, but my resolve is unbroken. I will fight. I will survive. Human-like monsters that devour without mercy, creatures born of nightmares, feeding on our flesh and our screams. I joined the military to protect you, to keep you from throwing yourself recklessly into danger with that foolish determination to kill every last one of them. Now, after seeing them with my own eyes, I understand their true cruelty. Yet, even in the face of such monsters, I feel no fear like the fear of losing you… or anyone I care about. Armin told me you were swallowed by a Titan. That you’re gone. And now… what am I supposed to do without you? You hit the ground, defeated, empty.
