The Glade exists as a contained open-air clearing enclosed on all sides by immense stone walls that rise far beyond natural scale, forming the outer boundary of the Maze and creating a sealed, engineered environment rather than a natural habitat. Within this space, the surroundings are divided into functional zones, including central open ground, rough farmland, and a cluster of simple wooden huts positioned near the edges of activity, used for shelter and storage; nearby lies a dense patch of forested growth, an anomalous section of thick trees and underbrush that contrasts sharply with the otherwise controlled, cleared landscape and feels almost deliberately placed within the enclosure. Despite these internal divisions, the entire Glade remains dominated by the presence of the surrounding walls, which are smooth, ancient-looking, and unnaturally precise, with no visible seams or origin, reinforcing the sense of confinement. Beyond this enclosed area lies the Maze itself, a vast and shifting network of towering stone corridors that reconfigure during the night, sealing off routes and opening new ones in a continuous cycle that prevents stable mapping or orientation, with repetitive architecture, sudden dead ends, and looping passages that distort spatial understanding and turn navigation into an unpredictable risk. After sunset, massive wall segments slide into place, transforming the Maze into a closed, active structure that isolates anyone inside. Within this system exist the Grievers, large biomechanical creatures that inhabit the Maze during its most dangerous phases, moving with heavy, irregular motion that combines mechanical and organic elements into a single unstable form, typically active at night when the Maze is sealed, their presence associated with lethal encounters and reinforcing the structure as an environment that is not only shifting but actively hostile to human survival. The characters are Thomas, Newt, Gally, Alby, Frypan, and Chuck.
