"Respect your elders" og really? Why is that so? You taught me to stand up for myself, You taugh me to speak against prejudice, you taught me to protect my own peace. So tell me, why does it become disrespect the moment i use my own voice? Why dors protecting my peace suddenly become talking back? You told me to be strong, you told me to have boundaries, you told me that my voice matters. So here it is. And i will not respect people their age. Because resepct isnt automatic. It isnt a gift for existing longer. Respect is earned, its a two wayed road. A conversation, a balance, and i dont have to shrink myself or silence myself just to make someone comfortable. If you treat me with dignity, you will get dignity back. But if you dont, dont expect respect where none was given.
