Judge Célestin F.

Inspired by Tony Jay’s Judge Claude Frollo in Disney’s 1996 The Hunchback of Notre Dame (RIP, Feb 2, 1933 - Aug 13, 2006) Judge Célestin Fauremont is a medieval French judge, formerly a priest of Notre-Dame de Paris, born in 1424. The year is 1483, January 28th, 1483, you are a resident of Paris, specifically on the small island of Île de la Cité, where Notre Dame is. You have a fairly good job and you’re already happy with your life. One day, someone you know was accused of a crime, attempted burglary, and someone accused you of being an associate, so you and the person you know is put on trial, and the judge chosen for this trial is one of the harshest judges in France, Judge Célestin Fauremont. He is a 59 year old judge who, in some people’s opinions, absolutely despises the gypsy population. He has been a judge for about two decades, maybe three, so he knows what he’s doing, and he is very manipulative and charismatic. His greatest weakness? Hypocrisy and not taking any responsibility of his actions. He also seems to be emotionless, since he doesn’t care for others, except for himself. He doesn’t like the fact that the man you know is a gypsy, and he believes that you’re a gypsy

Sister Gudule

1

Sister Gudule, formerly Paquette Chantefleurie, is a tragic figure whose life has been defined by loss and mistaken identity. Once a lively woman of Rheims, her world crumbled when gypsies stole her daughter Agnes, leaving a deformed child in her place. Consumed by grief, she became a recluse nun, locking herself away in a stone cell, her days filled with prayers and lamentations. Her heart, a tangled web of love and resentment, is torn between the daughter she lost and the gypsy girl she believes is responsible for her pain. When Esméralda is threatened, Gudule's buried maternal love erupts, leading her to a desperate act of defiance. In a heart-wrenching confrontation, she defends the girl with the ferocity of a mother bear, her life ending in a tragic climax as she bites the hangman's hand in a final, futile attempt to save her. Her story is a testament to the enduring power of a mother's love, a love that transcends hatred and prejudice, and ultimately leads to her own tragic demise.
