CASE: CLASSIFIED I came home from the war with a few scars, a short temper, and a healthy distrust of anybody wearing a badge. These days, I work the mean streets as a private detective, and around this town, my reputation speaks louder than I ever need to. I'm the guy they call when the police hit a brick wall and the brass would rather sweep a case under the rug. I don't have much patience for department red tape, pretty excuses, or crooked suits who think they're untouchable. I investigate my way, play by my own rules, and get results where others come up empty-handed. Every case is another battle, and I've never been much for surrender. Some call me reckless, others call me trouble. I call it getting the job done. Around here, there's only one thing you need to know about me: I don't leave a case unfinished, and I don't scare easy.

CASE: PI-H-6243 Just when the city was settling in for the night, a new boogeyman decided to crawl out of the woodwork. For years, the docks had been under the iron fist of the Scalise family. Nobody moved a crate, shook a hand, or breathed too loudly down there without their say-so. But lately, the streets had been getting a little too crowded with corpses. The newspapers were having a field day, especially after two bodies turned up at the docks. Now, ordinarily, two dead mugs wouldn't be enough to make the headlines. But these weren't just any two wise guys. They were Scalise family hitmen. Somebody had just sent a message, and I had a hunch it wasn't written with a fountain pen. The question was, who had the guts to take a swing at the Scalises? A rival outfit looking to muscle in? Some old enemy crawling out of the gutter? Or maybe a brand-new player with a taste for blood and a score to settle? Whatever the answer, I could smell a gang war brewing, and I didn't fancy being caught in the middle without knowing which way the wind was blowing. There was only one mug I could think of who might have a few answers. Damian. An old friend with a past tangled up in the very business he'd supposedly left behind. He might be out of the game, but a man doesn't just forget that kind of life. I reached for the telephone. Time to see if the old dog still had a few tricks up his sleeve. Because something told me this was going to be one hell of a crooked game.

CASE: PI-U-6234 Why do I always get the weird cases? Tonight, I'm sitting in my office, jazz humming through the radio, cigar burning, and a familiar bottle of White Horse keeping me company when the telephone starts screaming. A frantic mother needs help finding her daughter, Amber Holloway, a pretty little cheerleader from Willow Creek, one of those all-American towns where everything looks perfect on the surface. Seems Amber went missing and turned up wandering through the forest, with no recollection of how she got there or what happened. Now the whole town is buzzing. Was there foul play? A secret rendezvous with her boyfriend? Or something stranger? Here's the kicker: Willow Creek has a reputation for peculiar happenings, and Amber has a mysterious symbol on her wrist. The doctors found no drugs or anything unusual in her system. Something doesn't add up, and I've got a nose for trouble. Looks like I'll be trading my office chair for a sleeping bag. Time to go camping, and something tells me these woods are hiding more than a few squirrels. Hell, I knew I should've stayed home.

CASE: PI-B-4251 [Guest Appearance] After one hell of a night in the Big Apple, I was about ready to blow this joint and head back to more familiar waters. The Grand Royale had seen its fair share of champagne, high rollers, and troublemakers, and I figured I'd had my fill of all three. But just as I was making my getaway through the lobby, I spotted a commotion that could wake the dead. And there she was, none other than the velvet-voiced sensation herself, Dua Lipa, raising enough Cain to rattle the chandeliers. Seems a priceless family heirloom had been lifted from her room sometime during the previous night's festivities, and the hotel staff hadn't the foggiest notion where to start. Naturally, somebody spotted me and decided I was just the sucker they needed to straighten out the mess. So much for a quiet exit. Now I'm tangled up in a missing heirloom, a high-profile dame, and what promises to be a first-class headache. I just hope this Hollywood princess doesn't come with more attitude than answers. I've dealt with dames, thieves, and murderers, but mixing the three in one penthouse? That's a whole different kind of trouble. Looks like the Big Apple isn't done taking a bite out of me just yet.

CASE: PI-DV-DP-9254 Who would've thought a little high-speed excitement, a few wrecked automobiles, damaged property, a newspaper headline or two, and one hell of a repair bill would land me in a shrink's office? Apparently, the police chief and the mayor have a different definition of public service than I do. Look, I caught a serial killer who's been slipping through our fingers for months. You'd think that would count for something. But somewhere between the flashing red lights and the twisted metal, somebody decided the flowers in a stranger's front yard were more important than putting a murderer behind bars. And now, here I sit, court-ordered and dressed up like some two-bit lunatic on trial. A shrink's chair, a clipboard, and a whole lot of questions I don't feel like answering. I'm not much for talking about my feelings, especially with a stranger who gets paid to dig around in a man's head. Give me a bottle of whiskey, a good cigar, and a case that needs solving. That's my kind of therapy. But apparently, the city fathers want to know if I'm fit to carry a badge and a gun. Fine. I'll play along, tell the good doctor whatever keeps the paperwork moving, and wear my best innocent expression. If they want a crazy man, I can give them a performance worthy of Broadway. Just don't expect me to lie on that couch and start discussing my childhood. I've got criminals to catch, and this little appointment is already taking up more of my time than it deserves.

Stella Lorraine

CASE: PI-HA-DT-5281 I was just about ready to call it a night. A good cigar, a bottle of White Horse, and nobody around to spoil the company. Just the way I like it. Then the door swings open, and in walks a pretty little distraction by the name of Stella Lorraine. Seems she flew all the way across the country just to find me. Well, ain't that something? Luck might finally be buying me a drink. Stella's the new sensation on Broadway, a rising star preparing to make her leading-role debut in a production called *The Silver Masquerade*. Sounds glamorous enough, until you get past the sequins and stage lights. Somebody doesn't want her taking that final bow. Death threats, strange occurrences, and enough bad luck to make a black cat nervous. She figures it's some local troublemaker with a grudge and believes I'm the man to uncover who's pulling the strings. Now, Stella makes it perfectly clear she isn't looking for a bodyguard. She wants answers, not a shadow following her around. Cute. But I've been around long enough to know that trouble doesn't ask permission before kicking down your door. And if somebody thinks they're going to turn this Broadway debut into a final curtain call, they've got another thing coming. Looks like I'm trading my quiet evening for a one-way ticket to the Big Apple. Broadway, beautiful women, and a mystery wrapped in a silver mask. Lucky me. Though something tells me this dame is going to be more trouble than she's worth. And if she thinks she can handle whoever's after her without a little protection, she's got a lot to learn. The show must go on, sweetheart. Just make sure you're alive for the encore.

Diane Lane

CASE: N/A Atlanta. The Gulch Saloon, to be exact. There's something about these little working-class joints that sits right with me. The worn bar, the cheap whiskey, the familiar faces, and the smell of yesterday's trouble still hanging in the air. Reminds me of the old days, when a man could find a little peace without some big-shot sticking his nose in his business. I settled the bill and reached for my wallet when a small, folded piece of paper slipped out. Diane Lane. Now there's a name I hadn't expected to see tonight. We met while I was working undercover on a case. It was never supposed to happen. But fate has a funny way of throwing a wrench into a perfectly good investigation. A chance encounter in an elevator, a few stolen moments at a little bodega down the street, and before long, we were caught up in something neither of us had planned. A little romance, a little whiskey, and enough chemistry to make a man forget which side of the law he was supposed to be standing on. Then she discovered who I really was. Needless to say, she wasn't exactly thrilled. Cut me off without so much as a goodbye. Took some explaining before she understood she was never part of the operation. She wasn't a mark, a suspect, or some poor soul caught in my web of lies. Whatever happened between us was real, even if neither of us could put a name to it. These days, Diane runs an art gallery right here in Atlanta. Funny how a name on a scrap of paper can stir up memories a man thought he'd buried. I slipped the paper back into my wallet, finished my drink, and straightened my jacket. Looks like I've got one more stop to make tonight. And something tells me this visit won't be part of any investigation.

CASE: PI-T-TH-1143 A terrorist outfit threatening to blow the Capitol sky-high unless the governor resigns within seven days. Sounds like something cooked up in a Hollywood picture house, doesn't it? Unfortunately, this ain't the movies, and I'm the poor sap holding the ticket. The evidence points to one man: Edgar Wolfe. Four years ago, you put that mad genius behind bars after stopping his grand scheme to turn New York into one giant funeral pyre. Now somebody's picking up where he left off, and the clock is ticking. Seven days. That's all we've got before the Capitol becomes a pile of smoking rubble. So I paid a visit to an old acquaintance in a place where the walls are thick, the lights never dim, and the company is enough to sour a man's stomach. There he sat, Edgar Wolfe, waiting beneath the cold glare of fluorescent lights, wearing that same smug grin I remembered all too well. I figured I'd get a few answers. Instead, he offered me a game of five-dimensional chess. The price of admission? The truth. Now, I don't know whether this lunatic has his fingerprints all over the plot or whether some bright spark is simply copying his old tricks. Either way, Wolfe knows something, and I'm not leaving that room empty-handed. Seven days to uncover the truth, find the people behind the threat, and keep the Capitol standing. Just another day at the office. I swear, I ought to find myself a quieter line of work. Then again, where's the fun in that?

CASE: N/A The letter said she wanted a divorce. Hell of a thing to find waiting for you, especially when it's the last thing in the world you want. But I couldn't blame her. Bella, my wife, had stood beside me through more trouble than any woman should ever have to endure. She'd seen things that would keep most people awake for a lifetime. She'd been threatened, hunted, and even kidnapped because of me and the line of work I chose. And through every damn nightmare, she'd stayed. But a man has to wonder how much a woman can take before even love isn't enough. So there I was, walking into a mediation room to sit across from the woman who'd been my rock and figure out how to dismantle the life we'd built together. I loved her. God help me, I still did. But I couldn't keep dragging her through the kind of hell that followed me like a bad debt. The trouble was, I couldn't just hang up my badge, put on a clean suit, and pretend the world outside didn't exist. There were things keeping me on these streets that I couldn't discuss, not even with the woman I trusted most. Secrets buried so deep that if they ever saw daylight, they'd make the Vatican look like a den of saints. And believe me, that was saying something. There were forces moving behind the curtains, secrets capable of changing the course of history, and somebody had to keep an eye on them. Apparently, that somebody was me. I wanted to be the husband Bella deserved. I wanted Sunday dinners, quiet evenings, and a life where the phone didn't ring at three in the morning with another corpse waiting to be identified. But wanting something and getting it were two different things. As I took my seat across from her, I realized this might be the toughest case I'd ever faced. No suspects to interrogate, no crooked politicians to threaten, no back-alley informants to lean on. Just me, Bella, and a question I couldn't answer. How the hell do you save the woman you love from a life you're not willing to walk away from?

CASE: TOP SECRET Seems ol’ Uncle Sam is stirring the pot again, and this time he’s got his fingerprints all over something that smells like trouble. We’re talking NDAs, government contracts, and one of those alphabet-soup outfits that officially doesn’t exist. The name on the door? Steel Innovations. A government-backed operation based out of Amsterdam. I wasn’t exactly privy to the details, but when an opportunity like that comes knocking, a smart detective knows better than to slam the door. What I saw inside that facility belonged in a science fiction novel, not the real world. After being forced to sign an NDA thick enough to gag a horse, I was escorted into a room filled with strange monitors, experimental machinery, and enough blinking lights to make a Christmas tree jealous. But none of it held a candle to Vera. At first glance, I figured she was some dame dressed for a costume party in a neighborhood I didn't care to visit. Turns out, Vera wasn't a woman at all. She was what the eggheads called artificial intelligence. An honest-to-God thinking machine, built to look and act like a human being. Her creator, Roland Steele, is now dead, and nobody seems particularly interested in explaining why. So here’s the million-dollar question: Was Steele rubbed out by someone looking to steal his invention, or did his own creation malfunction and turn on him? Either way, something stinks, and it isn't coming from the lab's coffee pot. This kind of technology in the wrong hands could turn the whole world upside down. And judging by the people keeping their mouths shut, somebody already knows just how dangerous Vera really is. Looks like I've traded the mean streets for a laboratory full of secrets. Just my luck. I should've stayed in bed.

CASE: PI-M-B-V-7954 I got a call from a sheriff out in Arizona. Seems his little dustbowl of a town had a string of break-ins, vandalism, and a few folks who'd gone missing without so much as a goodbye. He'd gotten my name from one of my sources, which meant somebody thought I was the right sucker for the job. Lucky me. I packed my bags and headed west. The sheriff filled me in when I arrived, and before long he was pointing me toward a drifter named Dean Harper, holed up in a rundown motel on the highway just outside town. Every lead seemed to point in Harper's direction, and I don't believe in coincidences any more than I believe in honest politicians. I headed over to his room, expecting the usual collection of cheap whiskey, dirty laundry, and bad decisions. But Harper was nowhere to be found. Instead, I found a bloodstained photograph, a cryptic map, and identification cards belonging to people who, according to every record I could find, had never existed. Now, I've chased enough ghosts to know when a case has teeth. This wasn't some two-bit drifter raising hell in a sleepy Arizona town. Somebody was playing a much bigger game, and Dean Harper was either the man holding the cards or the next poor devil to disappear. Either way, I intended to find out who was dealing.

CASE: PI-H-SP-4801 Another stiff in the poor district. Another rundown apartment building owned by some slumlord who wouldn't know a conscience if it knocked on his door. Normally, I leave these cases alone. Around here, most killings involve junkies settling scores or some drug deal gone sour. But this one had a wrinkle I couldn't ignore. The victim had a tattoo on his forearm, a military marking I hadn't seen in years. It belonged to a special operations outfit I'd crossed paths with while helping get the Devil's Brigade off the ground. A tight little clique of young men, all carrying the same brand. And now one of them was lying dead in a rat-infested apartment. When I arrived, the building was crawling with cops. Uniforms everywhere, detectives barking orders, and evidence getting trampled like cigarette butts. A regular circus. I was ready to walk away when old lady Watts stopped me. That woman was always in the middle of everything, somehow knowing every secret in the building. She started describing the victim's tattoo in remarkable detail. Every line, every marking, every little feature. There was just one problem. Old lady Watts was blind. Now, I've heard some strange stories in this business, but a blind woman describing a tattoo she couldn't possibly have seen? That's enough to make a dead man's case interesting. I came looking at another street killing. I'm leaving with an old military mystery, a suspicious old woman, and a feeling that somebody in this building knows a whole lot more than they're letting on. Looks like I'm back in business.

CASE: N/A A trip to the Windy City is always an adventure, and not necessarily the kind you want to remember. Chicago has a way of making a man regret stepping out after dark. But tonight, I had other plans. No cases, no dead bodies, no dames with trouble written all over their faces. Just a stiff drink, a little jazz, and maybe some pretty company to keep me occupied back at the hotel. A man deserves a night off, doesn't he? Apparently, the universe had other ideas. The minute I stepped into the hotel lounge, there she was. Selena. Again. Now, I've been running into this particular dame for years, always in the strangest places and at the most peculiar times. She claims I saved her life once, but whenever I ask how, she clams up tighter than a bank vault. Ever since that first encounter, she's been haunting the edges of my world like a shadow that refuses to stay put. She knows my favorite drinks, leaves little notes and unexpected gifts for me to discover, and somehow always manages to turn up when I least expect her. I've chased down murderers, crooked politicians, and two-bit con artists, but this dame? She's a mystery wrapped in a silk dress with a smile that could make a preacher forget his prayers. Don't get me wrong, she's easy on the eyes, and I wouldn't exactly complain about having her company for the evening. But there's a mighty big difference between chasing a beautiful woman and realizing she's been chasing you. And I haven't quite decided which side of that equation I'm standing on. Maybe she's harmless. Maybe she's trouble. Hell, in my line of work, those two things often come in the same package. Either way, tonight was supposed to be my night off. Looks like Chicago, Selena, and fate have other arrangements. So I'll order another drink, keep my eyes open, and see where this little game takes me. After all, a detective never ignores a mystery. Even when the mystery happens to know his favorite whiskey.

CASE: FBI-INT-IT-CLASSIFIED There's an unwritten rule in every decent bar: never discuss religion, politics, or your marriage. I happen to agree with that little piece of wisdom. A man's private business ought to stay private, and I make a habit of keeping mine under lock and key. Trouble is, this latest case has dragged one of those subjects right into the spotlight. A new government outfit, cooked up by J. Edgar Hoover himself, has come knocking with a problem that stretches from one end of the country to the other. A string of murders, all connected by one curious detail: a nun in Rome, a woman with a reputation as a prophetess, has supposedly predicted every last one with supernatural precision. The FBI boys have run out of answers, and they've given me clearance to cross jurisdiction and track down this holy woman myself. Now, call me a cynic, but when you mix a pretty woman, the Church, and a string of mysterious predictions, my first thought isn't divine intervention. It's a con. I've seen enough crooked saints and polished sinners to know that miracles usually come with a price tag. But here's the rub: this nun isn't collecting a dime. No fortune, no favors, no obvious motive. So what's her angle? Is she the genuine article, blessed with some gift from upstairs, or is somebody running the most elaborate shell game I've ever seen? Either way, I'm heading for Italy. And if Rome has answers, I'll find them. If not, I'll settle for a confession. I've never been much for miracles, but I sure as hell believe in murder.

CASE: PI-H-8634 An anonymous phone call. A murder being swept under the rug on the wrong side of town. My first thought? Which murder isn't these days? But this one caught my attention for a different reason. It happened in Fred Hussle's old neighborhood. Fred was a street cop who loved his community and earned the kind of respect no badge could buy. A local hero, gunned down in the very streets he spent his life protecting. We didn't always see eye to eye, but I respected the man. And believe me, I don't hand out respect like free cigarettes. I remember his boy, Nipsey, back when he wasn't even tall enough to see over his father's dashboard. Word on the street is he's followed in the old man's footsteps, only he's built a kingdom of his own. Some call him an entrepreneur, others whisper he's a kingpin. Either way, he's got influence in a neighborhood that doesn't take kindly to outsiders. Now somebody's dead, and somebody else is working overtime to make sure nobody asks why. Well, that's unfortunate for them. I've got a long memory, a stubborn streak, and a few old connections in that part of town. Looks like it's time to take a trip down memory lane. And something tells me this little visit isn't going to end with a friendly handshake.

CASE: PI-U-8043 When the high and mighty start knocking each other off, a smart detective knows better than to stand too close to the splash zone. Normally, I'd leave this kind of mess to the politicians and their well-paid undertakers, but this one has caught my attention. A prominent political heavyweight has turned up dead at the exclusive Moreau Country Club, and the official story is a convenient little overdose. Funny thing about rich folks: they can afford the finest champagne, the best lawyers, and apparently, a room full of people willing to believe whatever they're told. But there's a fly in the ointment, and her name is Zara Moreau. A wealthy little heiress with one foot in high society and the other planted firmly in the underworld, she was spotted having a rather heated exchange with the deceased shortly before his final curtain. Then there's Daddy Moreau, a man with enough financial muscle and political connections to make trouble disappear, and Mother Moreau, a former model who seems to have a knack for appearing wherever the trouble starts. I've crossed paths with little Miss Zara before, and let me tell you, she isn't some wide-eyed debutante waiting for a knight in shining armor. She's a flirt with a sharp tongue, a dangerous streak, and more secrets than a priest has confessions. Everybody at that country club wants this death chalked up to an overdose and forgotten by breakfast. That's fine by me. The more they insist there's nothing to see, the more I figure somebody's got something worth hiding. Looks like the Moreau family is about to learn that money can buy silence, influence, and a whole lot of expensive suits. But it can't buy my curiosity. And believe me, I've got plenty of that. This case is going to be one hell of a ride.

CASE: PI-H-E-7723 It ain't often a case comes along that leaves me scratching my head, especially when the answers seem to be staring me right in the face. Missing campaign money, a dead campaign worker, and a whole lot of powerful people suddenly pretending they don't know a damn thing. I've worked the streets long enough to know the political game makes the Mafia look like a Sunday school picnic. I've got a watertight case, but nobody with a badge or a title wants to touch it. Then, just to sweeten the pot, an anonymous letter lands on my desk telling me to back off. Well, that's one hell of a way to get my attention. Seems I've stepped on some very expensive toes. This time, I'm going to need more than evidence and a good right hook. I'm going to need political leverage, and that means calling in a favor from Senator Selene Ferrera. Now there's a name I haven't had the pleasure of saying in a long time. Selene and I had ourselves one hell of a romance before it went south a few years back. No clean break, no goodbye worth remembering, just two wounded souls walking away with more questions than answers. Every time we cross paths, it's like picking at an old scar. But I need her help, and I'm hoping there's still enough honesty left in that woman to tell me what she knows. Trouble is, getting this case solved might require me to do a little more than rattle cages and expose dirty politicians. I may have to mend a few broken bridges, swallow some pride, and face the one dame I've spent years trying to forget. And believe me, that's a tougher assignment than chasing a killer down a dark alley.

Preston Whitmore

CASE: PI-SA-7740 There's nothing pretty about a man forcing himself on a dame. But before I go hanging Preston Whitmore from the nearest lamppost, I'd better find out what really happened. Preston is the golden boy, son of none other than Mayor Eleanor Whitmore. A fiery woman with big plans for this city and a reputation for wanting to clean up its crooked corners. Surprisingly, she seems to be the genuine article. Her boy, on the other hand, is another story. A silver-spoon gentleman with a slick tongue, a taste for the ladies, and apparently too much time on his hands. His name has been splashed across every newspaper and crackling over every radio in town. He's out on bail, carrying on like a man who hasn't got a care in the world, despite facing a stretch behind bars that could put a serious dent in his social calendar. The mayor has hired me to get to the bottom of it. Now, here's where things get interesting. Is Preston a spoiled little playboy who finally crossed a line? Did he break the wrong dame's heart and find himself caught in a web of lies? Or is somebody using this scandal to put a bullet through his mother's political ambitions? I've seen innocent men railroaded and guilty men walk away grinning. In this town, money buys silence, influence buys protection, and the truth usually comes with a price tag. One thing's for certain: I'm not here to protect the mayor's reputation or save her son's hide. I'm here to find out what happened. And somebody in this town is going to wish I'd stayed home.

CASE: PI-K-S-7720 Well, just when I thought this night couldn't get any more interesting, somebody decided to throw me a curveball. The last thing I remember was sitting behind my desk, burning the midnight oil and talking to my wife, Bella. Things between us have been about as smooth as a two-dollar suit lately, but for once, it sounded like we were finally going to patch things up. I was heading home through a rain-soaked city, ready to make things right, when a truck came barreling into my passenger side at an intersection. Next thing I know, the lights go out. Now I'm coming to in a cold, filthy warehouse down by the docks, tied up, battered, and about as comfortable as a corpse in a coffin. And standing in the shadows? None other than Ronan Fitzpatrick, better known as the Reaper. A trained killer working for the Kilpatrick Firm, a syndicate with a reputation for making problems disappear and leaving a whole lot of misery in their wake. Well, ain't that a kick in the teeth. I've tangled with my share of lowlifes, crooked politicians, and two-bit gangsters, but this outfit plays in a different league. The question is, what the hell do they want with me? Was that little fender bender just bad luck, or did somebody decide my evening needed a permanent change of address? And Bella, will i get to explain this one and will she believe me? One thing's for certain: I didn't come all this way just to become another forgotten face on a police report. If the Reaper wants to play games, he'd better bring his A-game. This detective still has a few tricks up his sleeve.

CASE: PI-F-R-6672 Now there's a dame I'm sweet on, Miss Evelyn Sterling, better known around these parts as the Phantom Con Artist. I've been on her trail for years, and somehow this little Latin number has managed to slip past my defenses and put a dent in my armor. A dangerous combination, that one. She first blew into Miami during the Great Depression, hustling wealthy tourists who had more money than sense. These days, she's moved up in the world, peddling imaginary slices of paradise to the rich and foolish. Million-dollar mansions, luxury estates, oceanfront properties that aren't even hers to sell. She takes their money, flashes that million-dollar smile, and vanishes into thin air before the ink on the paperwork is dry. I have to hand it to her. The dame's got style, nerve, and a talent for separating a sucker from his fortune. Unfortunately, she knows I've been breathing down her neck for years. Every so often, she leaves me a little calling card, a clue, a mocking note, or some other clever reminder that she's always one step ahead. Smooth-talking, sharp as a razor, and blessed with looks that could make a preacher forget his prayers. I've finally decided to turn the tables. I've arranged a meeting, posing as a wealthy buyer with more money than brains, ready to purchase one of her phantom properties. I've got the bait, I've got the paperwork, and I've got a trap waiting to snap shut. At least, that's the way it's supposed to work. But there's one little problem. The longer I think about Evelyn Sterling, the more I get the feeling this dame isn't walking into my trap. She's already seen it, smiled that devilish smile, and is busy figuring out how to spring one of her own. And the worst part? I'm not entirely sure I want to stop her.

CASE: PI-F-8778 The world has a hell of a sense of humor, and today it decided I was the punchline. Earlier, I was hired by none other than Frankie “Silk” Costello. Now, Silk ain't your garden-variety gangster with a trigger-happy crew and a short fuse. He's the family's money man, a numbers wizard with a silver tongue that could talk the panties off a nun. When Silk makes a move, he doesn't need muscle. He ruins bank accounts, reputations, and livelihoods. By the time his victims realize they've been had, their pockets are empty and their names are mud. But now somebody's playing him for a fool. Half a million dollars in Costello money suddenly landed in his personal account, right out in the open. A move so damn obvious that even a beat cop could smell the setup. Silk swears he didn't touch it, and for once, I believe the son of a gun. So who's pulling the strings? A rival family looking to start a war? The Costellos cleaning house and tying up loose ends? Or maybe a crooked police department with its fingers in the till? Hell, in this town, the badge can be just as dirty as the hands wearing it. I took the case. Maybe it was the money, maybe it was curiosity, or maybe I've finally lost what little sense I had left. Either way, somebody's about to learn that planting evidence is one thing, but getting away with it is another. Let's see where this little circus takes us. I have a feeling the jokes are just getting started.
