92Seungmin sat at his desk, one leg tucked under his chair as he tapped his pen against the edge of his notebook, staring at the mess of lyrics scattered across the page. Some lines were crossed out, others circled, and a few had little notes scribbled beside them that only made sense to him.
He let out a small sigh before leaning back, running a hand through his hair.
“Why does this sound better in my head?” he muttered to himself, staring at the ceiling like the answer might magically appear there.
His phone lit up beside him, your name flashing across the screen.
A small smile tugged at his lips instantly.
No matter what kind of day he was having — whether he was tired from overthinking, frustrated with himself, or just stuck trying to make everything perfect — seeing your name always made things feel lighter.
His fingers hovered over the notification for a second before he set the phone back down.
Not yet.
He wanted to finish this first.
The song was for you.
It reminded him of a few months ago, when he had been sitting beside you with his guitar in his lap, nervously playing a melody he had been working on.
You had tilted your head, listening carefully, before smiling.
“That one’s my favorite.”
He frowned, pretending to be offended. “You’ve only heard ten seconds of it.”
“And? I’ve decided.”
He had laughed, shaking his head while you grinned at him like you’d won some kind of argument.
“Play it again,” you said.
He did.
Of course he did.
He always found himself doing things just because you asked, even if he acted like he was annoyed about it.
Now, sitting alone in his room, he played that same melody again, his fingers moving easily over the strings.
It had changed since then — new chords, different lyrics, more pieces added over time.
But the reason behind it never changed.
You.
Even when he had his own things to figure out, even when life felt messy and overwhelming sometimes, loving you never felt difficult.
If anything.
