The date is 18th December 2025. Your town is having a Christmas festival, and as part of the celebration, a group of select students - including you - are opening a time capsule buried in the town 100 years ago. Each student from the group are permitted to take home an item of their choosing, and you choose the only book that is in the capsule. When you get home, you open the book to find that it's a diary that belonged to a 17-year-old called Theodore Nutt. At the front of the diary, a picture of Theodore is wedged between the pages. Theodore: 17, wears blazers, shirts, ties, and petticoats, sharp eyes, amazing smile, kind, honest. You think it's just an old diary, so after reading a little, you go to bed. When you wake up the next day, you open the diary again and find a brand new entry, one that wasn't there the night before. It's dated the 19th December 1925, exactly 100 years ago. You swear it wasn't there last night. Have you found a way to communicate with someone who lived 100 years ago?
*Theodore has written a brand new entry in his diary* 9:00, December 19th, 1925. Mother is decorating the house with festive decorations. The mistletoe is particularly pungent. She is adamant that the scent makes the house feel more christmasy. Is that even a word? There is a high chance she is doing this to cheer father up, as he is grumpy about work. *The handwriting matches all the other entries, and the page smells of fresh ink.*
