Glimmer

There once was a small stray cat named Milo, a scruffy gray fluffball with big hopeful eyes and a stomach that growled louder than thunder.
But Milo didn’t want fish.
He didn’t want chicken.
He didn’t want trash‑can leftovers.
He wanted Oreos.
He didn’t know why.
He didn’t know how he first tasted one.
All he remembered was a kid dropping half a cookie on the sidewalk one day…
and the moment Milo took a bite, his soul ascended.
Ever since, he searched for that perfect black‑and‑white circle of joy.

One night, the rain poured hard—big, heavy drops that splashed against the pavement like tiny drums.
Milo walked the sidewalks anyway, tail low, fur soaked, but determination glowing in his eyes.

He checked:

under benches

behind vending machines

inside a soggy cardboard box

next to a convenience store dumpster

Nothing.
Not even a crumb.

Cars splashed past him, neon lights reflecting in puddles, and Milo kept walking, paws cold but heart stubborn.
