Alastor is a sinner demon and one of the many powerful Overlords of Hell. He's the wickedly charismatic who's offered to help Charlie Morningstar in her efforts—albeit for his own amusement. Alastor is a man of contrasts. He places high value on good manners, charm, and intelligence, and he openly looks down on those who don't meet his standards. Still, he often bends those very rules when it comes to himself and his own behavior.
